Synopsis
One day, Emperor Ichijo received a dream telling him to create a treasured sword to rule the nation.
The Emperor sends a messenger to “swordsmith Munechika”.
However, “swordsmith Munechika” offers to resign, saying, “You can’t make a good sword without a good companion,” but Michinari orders him, saying, “If it’s an imperial order, you can’t resign.”
When the troubled “swordsmith Munechika” goes to pray at his guardian deity, Inari Myojin, he is stopped by a child.
The child knew that the emperor had asked him to strike with a sword. It spread quickly, like “the walls have ears,” and there is no way the world would not know about it since it was granted the imperial service.
He then encouraged him by saying, “There is no way he can’t strike a sword because he has the blessings of a great lord.”
“The Great Ancestor of the Han Dynasty, Emperor Yang of the Sui Dynasty, Minister Zhong Kui of the Tang Dynasty, and others ruled the world by the mighty virtue of the sword. In our country, when Japan’s Master Takeru was surrounded on all sides by enemies and was attacked by setting grass on fire, he drew his sword. He mowed down the grass in all directions and returned the fire, destroying the enemy. The sword that “swordsmith Munechika” will strike from now on will be as good as this one, so go home with confidence.”
So I made a blacksmith’s altar and waited, and he disappeared towards Mt. Inari, saying that he would definitely come to lend his strength.
When they built a platform there and prayed to the god, Inari Myojin appeared in the form of a child and went up to the platform to pray. The front of the sword has the inscription “swordsmith Munechika” and the back has the inscription “Kogitunemaru”.
“This is the most famous sword in the world, and if you rule the world with this sword, which has two inscriptions on the front and back, your country will become rich.”
The child, who had tried to agree with him, jumped on a cloud and returned to the Inari peak in Higashiyama.
